Grow/Shrink a disk

Grow/increase disk size

Warning:
Before you can modify the size of a disk it must first be unmounted from all virtual machines. If the disk in question is that virtual machine's primary disk then you must first shutdown the virtual machine.   1. Select Compute -> Virtual Machines from the left sidebar
  2. Select the virtual machine you wish to modify
  3. From overview page select Disks -> System disks from the menu below the virtual machines hostname
  4. Select the disk you wish to grow/increase the size of
  5. Select Grow/increase disk size from the Disk actions sidebar
  6. Enter the new disk size. It must be larger than the current size.
  7. Click Resize Disk.

The disk will be queued for resizing. Once resized you can mount it or start any machines to which the disk was the system disk for.

Shrink/decrease disk size

Warning:

  1. Select Compute -> Virtual Machines from the left sidebar
  2. Select the virtual machine you wish to modify
  3. From overview page select Disks -> System disks from the menu below the virtual machines hostname
  4. Select the disk you wish to shrink/decrease the size of
  5. Select Shrink/decrease disk size from the Disk actions sidebar
  6. Enter the new disk size. It must be smaller than the current size.
  7. Click Resize Disk.

The disk will be queued for resizing. Once resized you can mount it or start any machines to which the disk was the system disk for.
