Definitions

Name

By default virtual machines appear in the virtual machine list using their hostname. You have the option to give a virtual machine a custom name which can be used in it's place should you wish. Note, this will not change the hostname and is simply a label for this virtual machine within the Katapult system.

Tags

You can assign tags to a virtual machine much in the same way you might a blog post on your website. Not only are tags an easier way to search for your virtual machines, but they can also be used to apply rules / policies to virtual machines within other Katapult tools such as custom firewall or disk backup policies.

Steps

To add or change your virtual machine's name and/or tags follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Compute -> Virtual Machines from the sidebar
2. Select the virtual machine you wish to change the name of
3. Select Configuration -> General Settings from the menu located underneath the virtual machines hostname
4. Enter your desired name and/or tags for this virtual machine in the respective fields.
5. Click the Save button.
