Before We Begin

You will require a shared disk having been created and assigned to a virtual machine before the steps in this guide will work.

Note:
If you have not yet created a shared disk then you can actually attach it to the machine during the assign process.

• Attach shared disk to a virtual machine
• Detach shared disk from a virtual machine

Attach shared disk to a virtual machine

1. Select Compute -> Virtual machines from the left sidebar
2. Select the virtual machine which you wish to attach the assigned shared disk to
3. Select Disks -> Shared disks from the navbar
4. Click the name of the shared disk you wish to attach
5. Click Attach to virtual machine in the Actions sidebar

The shared disk will now be attached and can be used within your virtual machine.

Detach shared disk from a virtual machine

1. Select Compute -> Virtual machines from the left sidebar
2. Select the virtual machine which you wish to detach the assigned shared disk from
3. Select Disks -> Shared disks from the navbar
4. Click the name of the shared disk you wish to detach
5. Click Detach from virtual machine in the Actions sidebar

The shared disk will now be detached from the virtual machine.

Do you wish to prevent the disk being attaching again in future?
If you wish to ensure this disk can no longer be attached you must also unassign it from the virtual machine.
