Add a new IP address
Katapult automatically assigns an IP address to any resource that requires one, such as a Virtual Machine (VM), at the time of its creation. This guide will walk you through the process of adding additional IP addresses to your organization as needed.
View your organization's IP addresses
Navigate to Networking in the Katapult Console and click IP Addresses from the main navigation. Here, you'll see a list of your organization's IP addresses. (the allocacation column shows which resource (for example, a VM) is associated with each IP address.
Add a new IP address
Click the Add new IP address button in the top-right corner to open the Allocate new IP address form.
Configure details
Both form fields are required:
- Network: Select the desired network. Only resources within the chosen network's data center will be able to use this IP address.
- Version: Choose IPv4 or IPv6. Additional IPv4 addresses are chargeable, whereas IPv6 addresses are free.
The price for additional IPs will be displayed in the form footer.

Manage IP address actions
- Use as VIP (Virtual IP): Use this IP address across multiple virtual machines.
- Set reverse DNS: Configure the domain name this IP address resolves to. This is useful for mail servers or services requiring reverse DNS.
- Release IP address: Return the IP address to the pool of available IPs. (This action is not reversible).
