In This Guide

Start a virtual machine

  1. Select Compute -> Virtual Machines from the left sidebar
  2. Choose the name/hostname of the virtual machine you wish to start
  3. Select Start from the actions sidebar
  4. The start process will now be queued. You can monitor the progress in the tasks table at the bottom of the page.
  5. Once the task has completed your virtual machine is now running.

Shutdown a virtual machine

  1. Select Compute -> Virtual Machines from the left sidebar
  2. Choose the name/hostname of the virtual machine you wish to start
  3. Select Shutdown from the actions sidebar
  4. The shutdown process will now be queued. You can monitor the progress in the tasks table at the bottom of the page.
  5. Once the task has completed your virtual machine has been shutdown successfully.

Force a virtual machine to power off

Dangerous Action:
Forcing the power off on any virtual machine is considered a dangerous action as far as data is concerned and could result in data corruption.

  1. Select Compute -> Virtual Machines from the left sidebar
  2. Choose the name/hostname of the virtual machine you wish to start
  3. Select Force power off from the actions sidebar
  4. Confirm the prompt
  5. The force power off is now queued. You can see its progress in the tasks table at the bottom of the page.
  6. Once the task completes the machines power has been forced off. You can then start up the virtual machine again, as and when you require.

Power cycle a virtual machine

Dangerous Action:
Power cycling a virtual machine is considered a dangerous action as far as data is concerned and could result in data corruption.

  1. Select Compute -> Virtual Machines from the left sidebar
  2. Choose the name/hostname of the virtual machine you wish to start
  3. Select Power cycle from the actions sidebar
  4. Confirm the prompt
  5. Your virtual machine will now reboot
