Virtual Machine - Delete a single disk backup

To delete a single backup from a virtual machine level backup policy follow these steps:

  1. Select Storage -> Disk backup policies from the sidebar
  2. Select the machine level backup from the policies list. (They show as the hostname, or virtual machine name)
  3. Click the timestamp of the backup you wish to delete
  4. Click Delete backup from the Actions sidebar
  5. Confirm the action

The backup will be moved to the deleted items. It will be deleted in 48 hours, but can manually purged or reinstated back into the policy during that time if needs be.

System Disk - Delete a single backup

If you've several backups in your organisation you might find it easier to find the backup within the virtual machine itself (Option 2), otherwise using the Disk Backup policies page (Option 1) will be fine.

Option One: Disk Backup policies Page

  1. Click Storage -> Disk backup policies from the sidebar
  2. Select the backup policy related to the backup you wish to delete (System disks appear as "Disk Name from Virtual Machine Name")
  3. Under the All backups taken for this policy heading, select the backup you wish to delete
  4. From the actions sidebar, select Delete backup
  5. Confirm the action

The backup will now be deleted.

Option Two: Virtual Machine Disk Page

  1. Select Compute -> Virtual Machines from the left sidebar
  2. Select the virtual machine which has the disk you want to delete a backup of
  3. From overview page select Disks -> System disks from the menu below the virtual machines hostname.
  4. Select the disk in question
  5. Click Disk backup policies_ from the Disk actions sidebar
  6. Select the backup policy in question
  7. Under the All backups taken for this policy heading, select the backup you wish to delete
  8. From the actions sidebar, select Delete backup
  9. Confirm the action

The backup will now be deleted.

Shared Disk - Delete a single backup

If you've several backups in your organisation you might find it easier to find the backup within the virtual machine itself (Option 2), otherwise using the Disk Backup policies page (Option 1) will be fine.

Option One: Disk Backup policies Page

  1. Click Storage -> Disk backup policies from the sidebar
  2. Select the shared disk backup policy related to the backup you wish to delete
  3. Under the All backups taken for this policy heading, select the backup you wish to delete
  4. From the actions sidebar, select Delete backup
  5. Confirm the action

The backup will now be deleted.

Option Two: Shared Disks Page

  1. Select Storage -> Shared disks from the left sidebar
  2. Select the disk in question
  3. Click Show backup policies from the Disk actions sidebar
  4. Select the backup policy in question
  5. Under the All backups taken for this policy heading, select the backup you wish to delete
  6. From the actions sidebar, select Delete backup
  7. Confirm the action

The backup will now be deleted.
