Assign an IP to an interface

Virtual Networks:
It is not currently possible to auto-assign IP addresses to a virtual network. Refer to the virtual networks how-to guide for more detail on this topic.

  1. Select Computer -> Virtual Machines from the sidebar
  2. Select the virtual machine which has the interface you wish to assign a new IP to
  3. Select Configuration -> Network interfaces from the navbar
  4. Select the interface you wish to assign the IP against
  5. Select the Assign IPv4 address or Assign IPv6 address options from the actions sidebar
  6. You will be then be asked to either a) assign an unallocated IP address to your machine; or b) click the Get a new IP address button in the right sidebar to assign a new IP address out of the Katapult IP pool.

The IP will then allocated to the interface.

Unassign an IP from an interface

  1. Select Computer -> Virtual Machines from the sidebar
  2. Select the virtual machine which has the interface you wish to unassign an IP from
  3. Select Configuration -> Network interfaces from the navbar
  4. Select the interface which has the IP you wish to unassign the IP from
  5. Select Unassign next to the IP address you are looking to remove from the interface
  6. Specify whether you with to unassign the IP from the virtual machine but keep it within your account, or release the IP back into the Katapult IP pool.

The IP will then be unassigned from the interface.

Release an IP back into the Katapult pool

If you have previously unassigned an IP address from a virtual machine network interface but no longer require it you can release the IP back into the Katapult pool and thus not be billed for it, if applicable. To learn how to do this refer to the wider Networking -> IP Addresses guide.
